Shinny report..
Once again, the Rosemont shinny program was an amazing success according to Coach Grant Parks and Coach Todd Layton. With 20+ children enrolled, each outing was a spirited affair. The practices are broken into three segments: 1) skills building, 2) hot chocolate break and 3) a scrimmage. The primary objectives of the program, in order, are: fun, skills development and sportsmanship. At the end of the practice, the kids don’t want to leave and over the course of the winter, the kids’ level of skill clearly improves. A special thanks goes out to Jean Blackstock who organizes and manages the entire program. And, a special thanks goes out the “Almost Famous Ice Guys” for continually gracing us with the best ice outdoor ice in Calgary on which to practice. Another great season!

Our wish list for next year is;
New Goalie, new Snow Blower, new flat hose and new nozzle and to remove the whale back.

Global Warming Story

Bryan Labby and Camera Man Mark , interviewed; Kurt, Paulina ,Marnie, Josh, Bud and some others re Global Warming and outdoor rinks.
This will air this Sunday on C.B.C. News Channel 15 after 5 pm and on Channel 6 at 10 pm on the National with Wendy Mesley.

Tonight's Flood -9 C

Picture above, is maybe our plan for next year, LOL.
Kris, Kurt, Ian , Peter & Bud cleaned and added two coats to each rink.
We even used the " Duggan Delivery " to add the second coat to the lower.
We have now added 69 coats to the upper & 61 to the lower.

Monday not Sunday -8C

Kurt , Ian , Peter & Bud, "They keep going & going " cleaned the upper and gave it 3 coats so it would be in great shape for shinny on Tuesday.
Now 67 coats on the upper rink and 59 on the lower.

And this years Academy Award for Best Out Door Rink goes to..

Kurt's Goalie for making Today's newspaper and Kris for using Bertha to clean the rinks.
We get tonight off, to watch the Oscars but will be back to work tomorrow Monday at 8.

Another Sign of the Times

It was snowing so, Kurt, Ian, Jamie & Peter with the help of Bertha the Blower cleaned both rinks.

Two is better than One -3 C

Biagio and Bud cleaned a flooded the lower rink while a couple of hockey players cleaned the upper, B & B later flooded the upper.
So we have now added 64 coats to the upper and 59 to the lower.

On Tuesday Kurt used his blower to clean both rinks.
Tonight ,MATTY, Jamie, Kurt, Kris, Ian & Bud cleaned and added two coats to each rink.Later Kurt spotted a Coyote on the south side of the creek.
Now 63 coats on the upper and 58 on the lower.
Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KURT.

This team cleaned and added a coat to each rink.

Jamie, Biagio & Kurt added two coats to each rink.
Now 60 coats on the upper and 55 on the lower.

Monday Feb , 7 -9C

We didn't do any Ice Racing..but Peter, Ian, Kurt, Kris, Andrew,Bud and Dave the Hockey guy, cleaned and add two coats to each.
Now 58 coats have been added to the upper and 53 to the lower.

Also Kurt's second annual Super Bowl , with Peter, Ian, Jamie, Grant, Glenn, Andrew, Andy & Bud was great. Thanks to Captain Kurt for having it.

Last night, Jamie, Bud, Peter, Andy & Kurt * cleaned and add 1 heavy coat to the lower and 2 light coats to the upper.
Now 56 coats have been added to the upper and 51 to the lower.
* Kurt now looks like Sir Richard Branson, he even fooled the girls in this photo.;-)

Tonight's Report +3 C and last year at this time.

It was a warm night , but Ian, Glenn, Keith & Brad , cleaned both rinks and added a coat to each.
The upper rink has now had 54 coats added to it , while the lower has now had 50.

Just to compare to Sunday January 30th, 2011 according to this blog,

The Temperature was -27 C and there was lots of snow to remove.

Andrew,Kris,Bud,Glenn,Ian and our beloved Bertha, cleaned lots of snow and added two coats to the top rink.
So far we have 48 coats of water on the top and 44 on the lower rinks.

So on this day this year, the weather is a lot warmer and each rink has 6 more coats of water on them.

Thursday Jan 26, -7 C

Tonight's team of , Ian, Jamie, JR, Kris, Grant, Peter and Bud cleaned & added two coats to each rink.
We have now added 53 coats to the upper and 49 to the lower.

A Warm Night -6 C No Wind

Kris brought us our new uniforms , but l think we look too girly in them, ;-)
Tonight we cleaned and added two coats to each rink.

Now 51 coats have been added to the upper and 47 to the lower.

The upper has now had 49 coats added to it and the lower has had 45.

Tonight's Food

Sweden won Gold, Russia won Silver and Canada won Bronze in today's World Juniors Hockey Playoffs.
After the Game; Keith, Bud, Kris, Ian, Grant and Kurt cleaned and added two coats to each rink, so now we have added 44 coats to the upper and 42 to the lower.

First Flood of 2012

Biagio, Jamie , & Bud had help cleaning and flooding from Andre, Claire,Kyle & Sean.
We added two coats to each rink ,so now we added 42 on upper & 40 on the lower.
