According to Grant Parks, tonight they had 23 kids, the ice was fantastic, they practiced cross overs , stick handling and played games like puck pirate, and British bull dog.As always they ended with a game of shinny. They are suppose to stop around 6.30 but played until 7. They want to thank the ice guys for the wonderful rinks and for them to know that their efforts bring so much joy to the community and the shinny hockey program.

Need Some Help

Gentlemen,

Today, Bud, Kris, Ian, and Kurt put two coats on the upper and one on the lower. It is supposed to snow Friday tomorrow, so we may need some help on the shoveling end Saturday.

We are also looking for more help in the next 3 floods in order to get things ready for the Valentine party Feb 6th.

The idea is to scrap the curling painted rings, but to create a bobsleigh run out of snow and ice just north of the hall. This would mean extra shoveling and creative flooding and more gents to help.
We are going to get some energy from Nick's Steak house and hoping to have a Pizza night Thursday Feb 4th.

Please email Bud and cc Kurt if you can make it over the next 2 weeks in order to get more work done.

Thanks for you help.

Kurt

Busy Sunday

We got the brackets built this afternoon. Bud, Ian, Kris and Kurt got busy making the brackets for the netting to hang off of. Bud brought his ladder down and with some brainstorming, we were able to use Kurt's truck and the ladder to reach the high points.
After getting the brackets up, Bud and Kurt staked and tied the bottom of the netting tight to keep the netting away form the windows.

At nine, Bud, Kris, Jamie, Biagio, and Kurt cleaned the ice and put one heavy coat on both sheets. The temperature didn't warrant another coat, but with all the activity on the ice it sure needed some H20.

See you all Thursday,
Kurt

Putting Our Heads Together

We got the gang together tonight and put out heads together on protecting the windows. The gang included;
Bud, Kris, Keith, Ian, Jamie, Biagio, Dave and Kurt. Temperature was -12ºC. Nice to see Biagio with such enthusiasm for the cause!.

The subject of conversation was how to mount the netting for the windows. So, we are going to put our heads together Sunday afternoon, say around 2 PM. The time will be confirmed by email tomorrow.

Kurt will purchase the materials for the brackets. We will manufacture them on site Sunday.
Erecting the netting will be another day.

Cheers,

Kurt

First Flood of The Year!

Here are some photos from Sunday afternoon Jan. 3, 2010.

The temperature was warmer than it has been for weeks, at only -4ºC.
Our crew came out to flood for the first time in 2010: Bud, Kris, Ian, Jamie, Andrew, and Kurt who put down two coats on each sheet.

We learned through Ian that we have our first broken window. Our new replacement windows were going to have some netting set up earlier last year, but is now a priority to protect the others panes. We are going to put our heads together to figure out a way to set it up. May need some extra help with this possibly on a weekend, soon. We'll keep you posted!

Happy New Year to all!

Kurt
