"Skateable" Ice...

This is the longest year in recent history.
These photos were taken yesterday as I was at the hall in the afternoon. Two young guys brought down there own shovels (ours are put away), and were in the middle of clearing off some snow to expose the ice.

I was a bit late in informing them that they should clear off the SOUTHWEST end of the ice, for it is much harder than the East end. Still good enough for these two to shoot the pucks around.

March 17, 2018 the ice is still hard enough to play hockey.

Cheers
Kurt

Another Great Season and Job Well!

Well, we gave it a try last night. But, after assessing the state of the ice and looking at the forecast temperature, we concluded that it would not be a good idea to flood. We scraped and cleaned up.

Last year's "Last Day" was March 17th. We still have "skateable" tonight for shinny, but it's on the melt this week.
Big thanks to the rest of the team not here in photo; Claire, Grant, Adrian, John, Austin, Andrew P., Glenn, Andy, Ryan, Keith, Jamie, Buddy, Jim R..

We plan to have a Wrap-up gathering at the Riverstone Pub next week. Hope all can be there!

Keeping the hose on the ice, and hanging it up for the season,

Kurt

"In Like a Lion"....

March is coming in like a lion!

Cold enough last night to have a flood fest all night, but we settled for two coats on each.

Thanks to Ian, Kris, Craig, William(Bill) and Kurt.

It looks like Kurt, Craig, Ian and Kris are busy Thursday... so if the rest are able to scrape and flood please do. You can communicate with me if you like and I can send out an invite...Let me know who's in on Thursday.
