Last Flood. Its Official...

The team cleaned and did ONE last coat of the season on the lower ice. Shinny will be the last one Today.
Big thanks to everyone who came out to help over the season. We really had the best ice this year.

Thanks to the "die-hards" last night;  Craig, Bill, Andrew P., Daniel, Matt, Russel and Kurt.
We put a medium coat last night to try and get rid of the bumps caused by the under toe of water coming from under the ice. Grant will have on last Shinny tonight. Thanks Grant for all your help teaching the future skaters.

Upper = 61 coats
Lower = 69 coats

Speaking of future, we are planning on having a wrap up party for all of you Iceguys who helped out this year. Friday the 13th??  Who can make it. Ill check with Jackie to see if we can use the hall to raise a glass. Let me know if this day works for you SAY 7:00 pm.

...Yes, a sad weekend for sure.

We were joking about the last flood on Monday Feb. 24th 2020, but it looks like it is "no joke"!.

I did however go down on Tuesday before shinny and drilled a hole in the ice(knowing the melting is coming soon), and measured the thickness on the lower rink.
 4" think I measured in two spots.

 Shinny Tuesday night. Kris, Dave and Scott helped out while Coach Grant was out of town.

 Witnessed the melt on Friday when I went down to see how the Ice was. The deep erosion from the melting water is coming from the parking lot and the hill above the parking lot.

Let's plan to come down Monday and evaluate the ice with a cleansing ALE.

Monday Night Flood

Last Nights Flood;
Kris, Bill, Peter, Andrew G., Russel and Kurt put down two coats on each.
Weather is warming up and historically this is the time of year were we start to loose the ice.
Shinny was great last week and this upcoming Tuesday looks OK, but a week from now doesn't look good at all. Hope to have another couple of weeks and the weather network is wrong.

No Flood Last Night...

...Too Warm.

Kris, Andrew G., Peter and Kurt gave the ice a good grooming however. Temperature at 8 pm was 3ºC and forecast was accurate, snow around 12 AM.

On another note; we met a family down for a skate as we finished up and "hydrated". The father is a teacher at SAIT and has very generously donated two red commercial grade nets for us. So if you see the nets down by the shed doors you know what is happening.

We can finally get rid of the old nets with this donation.

What a WEEK!

Great work this week. Just a recap from last Monday...
Thursday was too warm to flood so we left it alone. It melted Friday and Saturday with RAIN in the afternoon Saturday.  Woke up to Sunday snow and about 4 - 5 inches. I called Henry (with bobcat and blower attachment), he squeezed us in on Sunday afternoon... to clear the lower.

Monday morning we all woke up to more snow on the way .

Big thanks to Russel (the new Iceguy), Craig, Kris, Ian, Bill, Jeff, Daniel, Andrew P., Austin, and Kurt tonight who collectively resurrected the ice from Mother Nature. Well done!!!

Shinny is tomorrow and the Annual Valentine's Party is Saturday. Bring your skates and a smile.
