Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
Well the ice looked very well used when we showed up last night at 7pm. We had a great crew.
Bill, Peter, Andrew P., and Kurt welcomed Wyatt, Matthew B., and Brendan B. (two brothers) to fold. They all came prepared with the proper ice grippers on the boots and helped to scrape and flood.
Looking at the forecast, it looks rather mild over the next few days and with New Years approaching rapidly, we need to pick a night before the FIRST to do another flood. Tonight might be a light flood. being that it is so warm.
The Newbies on the shovels in formation.Dustin, a resident nearby and a LOVER of this rink, brought is two kids down for the last two days to skate and enjoy the outdoors. He helped us clear and will help out when he can. He is away a lot. Thanks Dustin.
The brothers Matthew and Brendan on the wet end getting a feel for the pressure of the water and learning the technique of the first coat.
Kurt didn't realize that he was taking a selfie, but everyone else was posing for the shot.
Matthew B., showing off the finishing coat skills he just learned. He is an natural IceGuy!
Bill, left, showing Brendan how to get the hose ready for draining down the hill.
Wyatt on the wet end sprinkling the H2O like a pro.
Well. Let's see what we can do before New Year's. We will keep an eye on the temperature tonight and tomorrow.
Keeping the hose on the ice,
Kurt
